Originally from Exeter, Devon I moved to London in 2004 to study a BA in Fashion Design at the University of Westminster. As a designer I’ve always been into unique, unusual and subversive fashion. In my second year of university I started work experience with Torture Garden clothing. This opportunity allowed me to explore my alternative side and gave me the skills I needed to execute my fashion ideas throughout my second and third years at University.
For my final collection I was inspired by cutting techniques from technical masters such as Schiaparelli, Vionnet and Dior. Historical fashion is usually my greatest influence when it comes to design, in particular the 18th and early 20th century. I enjoy manufacturing fabrication techniques with latex to create body conscious fashion with experimental pattern cutting to create interesting silhouettes. I find it important to give ideas a quirky, contemporary twist so for my final collection I re-worked historical tailoring into a modern context. I deliberately avoided the stereotypical fetish route and attained the balance between fashion and fetish by combining fabric with latex but still creating an individual edge. By utilising my pattern cutting and design background with my knowledge of the fetish fashion scene I felt I had the opportunity to create something unique. I plan to continue working within the fashion and fetish fashion industry. Please contact me if you wish to discuss a custom made to measure outfit for any occasion.
